U2'S MTV JOY BUT SNUB FOR WESTLIFE Oct 1 2002

IT was joy for U2 and heartache for Westlife last night when the MTV Awards nominations were announced.
Bono was celebrating after hearing U2 made in to four categories but Westlife were snubbed for the third year in a row.
The pop stars failed to gain one nomination despite a year of chart topping hits and a sell-out European tour.
A source close to the band said: "It's an absolute disgrace. It now looks like there is a problem between Westlife and MTV but the lads aren't going to make a big deal out of it.
"They have proven that they are the No1 pop band by outselling all the others - it's as simple as that."
U2 were shortlisted for the best live act, best rock, best group and best internet site.
Rapper P Diddy will host the awards on November 14 in Barcelona. And Pierce Brosnan will be among the guest presenters on the night.
A show insider said: "U2 have not yet confirmed if they will attend but there are rumours that they might perform."

it's a bit off conisdering most of the music in europe is imported anyway

it is a bit off really! but we no wesltife are still the best even if not nominated for these awards. they'll always be number one for us

They wouldn't really fit into any of the categories anyway adn if you lok who have been nominated there is hardly a brittesh or irsh act there plus we only get to see the choices for the peoples vote and not the whole list  |

i agree, it is reallyyyyyyy off!!! i signed the petiton! (not that it'll do much good!) And i agree with what someone else on there said-it might b cos they were worried that if westlife were nominated they'd win all the awards...maybe the competition are scared of losing to them...!
