The second series of Pop Idol has been put on hold over fears it won't be as popular.
Auditions for the second series were due to have begun during the summer. They were put on hold until next month and have now been scrapped all together until next year.
Over 18,000 people had applied to take part in the new series.
It's thought one of the reasons the show has been out on hold is the poor ratings for the BBC's Fame Academy.
A spokesman for Thames TV, who make the show, told the Sunday Mirror: "We are aware that there is a danger of overkill".

aww, can't believe it's been put off! was lukin forward 2 watchin that!
mind u, pop idol is gud...i reckon fame acadmay is cr@p...that's y no1 watches it...plenty of ppl have watched popstars...so i dont think pop idol have anythin 2 worry bout....ppl will prob watch it newayz!
Lol @ the happy xmas thing...it's still 5 weeks away ya know! (mind u, i spose it aint that long...still have 2 buy loadsa pressies!)
