When Friendship turns into something more

Shane and Roxanne were sat on a bench in a park in Sligo.

"You should of seen it, Kian passed me the ball i was running all the way down the pitch with it then BAM! I kicked it into the net and the crowd went crazy!" Shane shouted hysterically
"That's great Shane but..." Roxanne started
"I won player of the match and i'm the senior champion!" Shane said smiling
"yeah but..."
"So anyway, I got this great trophie and then me ma was like.."
"SHANE!" Roxanne shouted
"What?" he asked shocked
"Can i speak please?" Roxanne asked
"Yeah sorry" Shane said leaning back
Roxanne and Shane had lived next door to eachother all their lives and their mums were best mates. The same with Shane and Roxanne they were best mates but never anything more. Shane had deep hazel green eyes, and dark brown hair. Not very tall but that's what made him so adorable.
Roxanne was about the same height as Shane and had really big brown eyes and light brown hair, shoulder length hair and she was stunning. Very irish looking.
"well?" Shane asked
"You know that childcare course that I was supposed to be going to in Dublin?" Roxanne said facing Shane
"Yeah"
"Well, the university phoned me today and they have cancelled the course and the nearest place I can go is in London" Roxanne said taking hold of Shanes hand
"WHAT!?!" Shane shouted
"I've gotta move to London" Roxanne said
"No! You can't! Roxanne promise me you won't go to London" Shane pleeded. Roxanne could see it in his eyes
"I'm sorry Shane, but....I have no choice. I'll be gone for 2 years" she said standing up
"Well, when d'ya go? At the end of summer?" Shane asked standing up with Roxanne
"No....Monday"
"MONDAY?!?" Shane shouted shocked
"Yeah, I have to go. If you want to see me before Monday then you know where to find me" Roxanne said kissing Shane on the cheek and waving goodbye as she walked down the passage way and out of the park gates down to the bus stop.
Shane looked around and decided to go home.

It was Sunday night and Roxanne was just packing her last things. She looked at her watch and Shane still hadn't come to see her she sat on her bed and looked over at a picture on her bedside table. It was of her and Shane at her 16th birthday party 6 months ago. Shane had his arm aroudn Roxanne and they were both smiling from ear to ear. She picked it up and looked at it in detail - she was going to miss Shane so much.

Just then there was knock on her bedroom door
"Come in" She said putting the picture back down
the door opened and in came her sister Cora. Her sister was 18 and 2 years older than Roxanne.
"Hey Rox" she said sitting on the bed next to Roxanne
"Hey" Roxanne replied glumly
"Shane just phoned up, he wants you to go round to his" Cora said
"now?" Roxanne asked confused
"That's what he said" Cora smiled
"Well....i've still gotta pack some stuff" Roxanne said looking aroung her bedroom
"I'll do that, you just go round"
"Ok seeya in abit"
Roxanne ran downstairs and stopped in front of the mirror in the hallway she straightened out her hair and grabbed her jacket. She ran next door to Shanes family cafe and knocked on the door. There were no lights on inisde so Roxanne cupped her hands round the window and looked closely inside when she noticed a figure walking towards the door.
Shane opened the door
"Hiya, come in" he smiled
"Cheers" Roxanne said walking inside "what're you all dressed up for? Are you going out?"
"No, come through here" Shane said taking Roxannes hand and leading her through to the lounge where there was a candlelit dinner. The dinner was spaghetti bolognaise.
"Suprise!" He said putting his arm around Roxanne
"Awww thanks Shane" Roxanne said hugging him

"Oh god! I'm stuffed" Roxanne said leaning back and patting her stomach
"There's more to come!" Shane laughed
"I don't think I can handle anymore" she replied
Shane stood up and took Roxannes plate and his into the kitchen and arrived back a few moments later with butterscotch pudding
"Oh My God! I haven't had this since.."
"Since my 10th birthday" Shane laughed
"Yeah" Roxanne smiled back
"Thanks alot Shane" Roxanne said
"Don't mention it. It didn't take me long" Shane said taking a mouthful of his pudding
"No, not just for this...for everything. Ever since we've been little kids we've been joint by the hip and you know you're my best friend and out of everybody...Kian, Mark, Cora, me mam and dad...i'll miss you the most" Roxanne said wiping a tear from her eye
"I'll miss you loads too" Shane said standing up and walking over to Roxanne and hugging her.
"Well, I'd best be going home now" Roxanne said standing up and zipping up her jacket
"OK then. What time are you going tomorrow?" Shane asked
"erm...noon" she replied
"OK, I'll come wave you goodbye" he said
Shane walked Roxanne to the door
"I'll see you tomorrow then" Roxanne said as she looked into Shanes eyes
"Yeah, seeya tomorrow" he said looking back at her with his hazel eyes. Just then he leant in and kissed her, Roxanne pulled away and walked out.
